Initially I was concerned that the accommodation is not right away in Valbona. But it proved to be a big plus. At night you could hear the forest and the river running nearby. The place is new and immaculate, the beds are very comfortable. The owner is a person with a big heart! There is no restaurant at this hotel but he helped us to get to a place that is about 5 minutes drive and we had there one of the best authentic local meals. The same he helped us to order food in the evening. They serve good breakfast and you can have refreshments or a beer from their bar, too. The next day he helped us to go to the start of the hike and also helped us to get mules for the luggage as it proved to be difficult to hike with 2 young kids and backpacks. It is hospitality at its best and in the nicest location. If you want to get a feel for the mountains, stay for a night or two here, just immersed in the nature without much to do or think about.
