I love this hotel. The staff is so friendly and the rooms are very comfortable and clean and a great price for how good the rooms are. You can hear the ocean, it's right on the beach but you still feel clean and pristine. Thank you!

It is amazing beach and surf town on the Ecuador coast.
It is amazing beach and surf town on the Ecuador coast. Frankly I can’t get enough, with festive atmosphere, restaurants and artists, great sandy beaches with popular surf breaks. Trips and trails inland and spectacular wildlife from pelicans and many various birds to iguanas and a herd of cattle that wander through town and the beach. A colorful and unique experience for any adventurers.

Very pleasant small town with lots of good restaurants,...
Very pleasant small town with lots of good restaurants, places to stay and a vibrant nightlife, not to mention a lovely long beach with decent surf, so what's not to like?
Can be noisy on the main streets, but isn't that what many come for in the first place?
Prices are on the high side at restaurants but there are some excellent options. There is even a wine store with some decent options.

Montañita has two faces.
Montañita has two faces. First, it is a mecca for partying, where you can find just what you want. There is "Lost Beach Club", one of the top worldwide clubs for electronic music accordingly to the DJMAG. If you are not in the mood for electronic, you can go for regaeton in one of the clubs alongside the "Calle de los Cockteles" or Cocktail Street. Also, if you want to get crazy with an awesome party, visit "Caña Gril", must go.
Second, it is a paradise for surfers and solo travellers. If you match this description, so you must stay in "La punta de montañita", nice hostels full of chill people. Also, you can work remotely. Imagine just picking up your surf table after a long day working, and surf pretty nice waves while looking a beautiful sunset. That you will get in Montañita.

I love montanita because of the surf, fun waves.
I love montanita because of the surf, fun waves. You can take hour bus ride to puerto lopez and do day trips, diving, snorkeling, kayka, hiking, so much. There is a waterful close by (10 min by taxi) to hike about 2 miles each way. Montanita the actually city can be quite loud, lots of shops and places to eat.

Great small beach town.
Great small beach town. Pretty quiet on the weekdays but surges to fill blown liveliness on the weekends. I experienced a mix of both - relaxing and partying and it was perfect. The entire town can be experience in a few days, anything longer than the excitement starts to wear off. The beach offers surfing, snorkeling, and amazing sunsets. The town is small but has lots of shopping and food options. There are also several nearby beaches (1-2 hrs) which cost $20-25 to get to by taxi. Overall really enjoyed.
One of the best hostels we've stayed at in South America. The staff are super friendly and very welcoming, the volunteers chat to everyone so it's a nice place if you are solo travelling. It's a lovely beach vibe hostel. It's away from the hustle and bustle of town so you can chill out in the day and party in the night, they have a pool table, darts, volley ball and a pool so lots of things to keep you entertained. Cheap drinks, amazing food and hot showers. We extended our stay by a week! Would definitely recommend :)
Casa Del Merman is about a 10 minute walk from the beach and from the main part of town. This is great if you're looking for a quieter experience (although some of the neighbors play loud music), away from the bustle and all-night partying in town. It can be a bit of walk if you're going back and forth a lot. There's a lovely pool area, with a heated pool. Lastly, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - but knowing Spanish is key.
Right in the beach but away from the party scene with wonderfully designed common areas. The steam room within the garden is a luxurious amenity that I used quite a few times. Beautiful rooms that are well designed and kept very clean. The reception and breakfast teams were exceptional and other guests were a delight to be around. As a solo traveler, everyone including the security team made me feel safe and looked after.
Location is perfect, staff was beyond expectations - every single person was super nice. I never experienced something like this before. We "managed" to lock our car in the keys inside - they help us also with this problem, amazing!!! I can only recommend this place. Nice beach at the property with sunbeds in the shadow. Bfast has 5 options in independent restaurant next to hotel, its ok for the money.
Karen is an amazing host! She responds at everything we needed in just seconds! And the cleaning lady comes and gives a cleaning once a week for free! Air conditioning in every room, black out curtains. The wifi is the fastest I had in all Ecuador. Near by running trails with hills that has a beautiful view form the top. Very close to town and the beach and the supermarket! Highly recommended
Loved my stay here so much I kept extending it. Lovely cabin with a comfy bed, hot water in the showers, super cool ambiance, and the staff and other guests were so friendly. Plus it was in the perfect location — a bit away from the center of town (but still within walking distance) so it’s very quiet. Right by the beach. I could have easily spent my whole time in Ecuador here.
Hotel Ummagamma us a nice hotel. The double room I had was comfortable, clean with a nice bathroom with hot water. It has a pool and nice terrace with a view. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is located next to a Tia supermarket. It's also located just a short walk from the center of Montañita. I would recommend for solo, couples or family travelers.
This is by far the best place we have stayed the last 4 months of traveling.
The facilities are amazing! Big garden, big outdoor kitchen, beach access, supermarket across the street and only 5 min from town - but far enough to not hear the party noise.
Ramon and Gloria are very sweet and helpful. We extended our stay with 3 extra days and didn’t want to leave.
This is a party hostel so if you want to meet people and have a great time then this is for you. The owner is super friendly and welcoming and has ruled about not making noise after a certain time which is appreciated if you need to get some sleep. Seriously the best possible place to meet other travellers in Montanita, I wished I had gone there sooner.
We had an amazing time at Kamala! We stayed there for 2 weeks. Both the dorms, as well as the private rooms are in excellent condition. Location in between Manglaralto and Montañita allows you to enjoy both villages. Pablo is a great host and he helped us plan our trip to Galápagos. Would definitely recommend!
The host was extremely nice and the communication with her was very efficient!! The rooms were perfect for us. Without a doubt the best place to stay in Montañita because of the location: very quiet yet located within a few minutes walking to the center! would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Traditional hotel in the area of La Punta - Montañita directly on the beach. Great pool and location. Comfortable bed and room. Delicious breakfast and friendly staff. Nice bar area and a short walk over the beach to other restaurants and bars. Very pleasant atmosphere.
Selina Montanita had a great location and staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The girl at check in was great. Food was great. I stayed in a suite and the room was quite large and the AC worked well. I would definitely come back again.
Good location which is slightly off the party area of Montanita. Very friendly staff, clean rooms (there are only 4 in the hotel). Kitchen available. Lots of options within walking distance. Easy bus or taxi access for visits to Olon.
