The comfortable king size bed and very modern bathroom, the beautiful location and the food and drinks on offer. The beer garden where we were able to sit outside in the sunshine. The ability to have our luggage delivered ahead of our arrival. Fabulous toiletries from one of my favourite manufacturers.
This 900-year-old West Sussex castle offers luxury accommodation within medieval walls. Its stunning gardens are home to an 18-hole putting course and 2 lakes.

From the moment driving down drive thru the gate to the staff, the room was perfect for us. The meal and breakfast was top class

House Arundel is really central in the town but really quiet in the evening
My room was beautifully decorated and the bed incredibly comfortable. Lovely clean, contemporary bathroom with super plush towels.
Teas and coffee in the room with an honesty bar downstairs.
The owners are super-friendly and helpful too.
A wonderful stay!

Amberley is a beautiful hotel in lovely grounds in a very pretty village. The service is fantastic and the rooms are lovely. The food is perfection, so although it’s very expensive, it is a real treat. I only have one word of advice. If you value your privacy in the lavatory, do not book Winchelsea room as there is no door between the bedroom and the bathroom. I have no idea why that is.

Amazingly beautiful village with wonderfully maintained gardens and thatched roofs, felt like a film set. Great stopping point on South Downs Way, with couple of pubs and the castle that does afternoon teas and fine dining.

Pricey for what you get.
Pricey for what you get. Just because it's in a castle doesn't mean the rate should be so high, especially if they aren't offering anything 'special.
Small room, no water pressure, sparce. But bed comfy and nice staff.

Pretty area. Great walks. The Bridge Inn pub was walkable from the Castle. Staff at the Castle were fabulous and we felt very relaxed. Would have loved to have stayed for another night but no availability sadly.

There is a lovely tea room in the village- the owner's daughter is a great baker, The village ship has wonderful bread delivered so if you are there Saturday morning go there. Very friendly and helpful. Nice pub and a little pottery with a small selection of items. The village is gorgeous and is worth a walk. 12th-century church is open to visitors.
Gorgeous place. Had a lot of great amenities. Location however if you don't drive it's difficult and expensive to get taxis. The castle should have their own taxi for instances like this. Food was great. However, during our dinner courses the rabbit had a bone in it. For as expensive as our dinner was the food should have been tended to a bit more carefully. Very disappointed with that. The pillows on the bed could have been a bit better. They were flat and uncomfortable.
The warm greeting when we arrived, the upgraded room , polite, curtesous staff. Beautiful setting, quiet, rural, white doves cooing in the morning, heated towel rack. Professional staff and friendly 👌 loved it. This was a last-minute change of itinerary arriving from the USA, we had missed our connection to Scotland, and we booked the castle last minute. So happy we found Amberley and the local pub was terrific, too, The Black Horse.
Emma is a brilliant host, very welcoming and friendly. The property is gorgeous, just what we wanted for our girlie weekend. The hot tub is lush and we stayed in it most of the time! Amberley itself is a delight and worth a visit to the tea rooms and the shop. Dinner at the Black Horse was nice but very hot in the pub itself and sadly the beer garden wasn't open. All in all a perfect weekend and would highly recommend.
Great country pub with excellent food, comfortable rooms and first class staff. Breakfasts were a particular highlight with a wide choice of individually cooked plates. Rooms were warm with a well appointed bathroom. It's a dog friendly hotel which is a real plus as there is loads of good walking on the South Downs straight from the door of the pub.
gorgeous property, in lovely and charming location. easy drive from London Gatwick. Very walkable property! Big shout out to Pierce at the front desk who was wonderfully accommodating to my husband and I when we arrived a tad early. He went above and beyond when my husband injured his ankle in route to the hotel. He is a total gem of a human!
It is a dream, fairy-tale castle with a perfect reception staff and a most beautiful location. The rooms are delightful , the setting is like a film scene , worth a trip, definitely. The nearby village is absolutely gorgeous, walks from the hotel through the valley and the South Downs are delightful.
Amberley Castle is truly exceptional.
Definitely worth a stay!
The Castle itself is magnificent, the grounds impeccable.
All of our dealings with the staff whilst there were fantastic. They were so helpful and always willing to answer any questions
Excellent service throughout, couldn't be happier.
In theory the location of this lovely looking and very quirky old cottage is great, close to the train station, a great pub and the Amberley museum. The booking process was fine, the hosts responded quickly to queries and questions and they returned the security deposit promptly and without fuss.
The location is exceptional set in the idyllic ancient village of Amberley. The food was equal to the location, breakfast was generous and the wild berry crumble to die for. Well done the Black Horse quite a dark horse if you get the pun.
Graham and Amanda with 2 dogs.
The hotel itself was lovely, as expected but what made our stay so special were the staff - they pulled off the perfect mix of being charmingly personable while also courteously professional. We’d recommended it highly and will definitely return. Thank you.
The whole house was damp and uncomfortable Don’t stay there. We had to move to a hotel as it was so damp that we couldn’t breathe and the kitchen smelt so awful that we didn’t eat or drink anything there.
We were hiking South Downs Way, and Amberley was just a short distance from the trail. Staff were excellent, rooms was extremely comfortable and restaurant & food options were first class.
It was our anniversary weekend celebration and the hotel staff were kind to arrange a room upgrade. Great setting, helpful staff, wonderful breakfast...all-in-all a great experience.
The Black Horse was on the door step to Amberley Castle where I was going to a wedding. The staff were very friendly and helpful if you needed anything.
