Location in Southwold. When we arrived we saw a run down, neglected building in need of considerable repair.

It was remote, quiet and architecturally stunning. It is as it says - converted stables - charming character and not crowded. There are no extra facilities but there is a small lounge and honesty bar . This place feels like your own mansion with the added perk of a delicious Breakfast of your choice being served at the time you request. There are only a few guest rooms so the breakfast room was always spacious and peaceful. Staff were professional but equally very friendly and polite. Southwold is 10 min drive away which was enough for a stroll and fish and chips.

Lovely location and what looked like a very nice pub although we were at a wedding elsewhere. Good parking facilities.

A delightful, unspoilt seaside town. Beautiful beaches, colourful beach huts, old fashioned pier, lighthouse, good High Street. Attractive traditional houses and open green areas. Footpaths across the common down to the river estuary where you can take the short ferry trip across to the village of Walberswick or look at the boats. Excellent fresh fish and chips here or up in the town!

We liked the individuality of Southwold and in particular its art galleries where there is a lot of art work of quality and reasonably priced. The quirky pier is appealing (despite the fact that the splendid water-clock is currently out of order) and the sandy beach is a joy to walk along. Out Saturday night meal at Coasters was one of the highlights of our stay with great food and service. A bonus we appreciated was the fact that parking was free in the car park near the town centre, an absolute rarity for contemporary England!

Beautiful weekend spent enjoying the brewery tour, eating in the swan hotel, a walk along the pier and beach path. There are some very good artisan bakerys, and 2 wonderful fish and chip shops.
Wished we would have had the time to visit the lighthouse.

Lovely sandy beach with a long promenade.
Lovely sandy beach with a long promenade. Pier had two cafes and a couple of nice gift shops. Town center had a good selection of shops and was clean and tidy. There was a very nice putting green with a small cafe. Liked it so much we are returning later this year

We had never been to Southwold before.
We had never been to Southwold before. We stayed in the area because we were attending a wedding at Henham Park. What a delightful surprise! From the beach and colourful beach huts, to the lovely independent shops and plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants it had the unspoilt charm of times gone by. We especially enjoyed the harbour area and were only sorry that we were just there for a long weekend . We’ll definitely come back and explore more.

Although Southwold is best seen on a warm, sunny, wind-free...
Although Southwold is best seen on a warm, sunny, wind-free day, we enjoyed our trip at the end of April, despite the cold wind! We walked to Walberswick and back along the paths available, stopping at a lovely café there before continuing the walk. We crossed the river via the ferry (£2.00 each) which saved us from a longer trip. There is a good, sandy beach with dunes if warm, & a pier selling drinks & lunch at the far end of the town. Opposite the pier is a small Putting Green & café. We stayed at The Crown which was central to the various quality shops, a lovely bakery & the Adnams brewery/shop. There is a range of pubs to suit all tastes & several teashops to choose from. Car parking is at each end of the town, but if hills are a problem, I would suggest parking at the top car park rather than at the pier end. There is also a lighthouse in the centre of town which offers tours. All in all, a good day out!
The hotel was in a good location with walking distance to Southwold. We were greeted by a very friendly staff member who ensured us that they had noted we were vegan for breakfast the next morning. Despite us not booking a table for dinner, we were accommodated and despite there not being a vegan menu, the bartender/waiter and chef went to great lengths to create a menu for us and the food was tasty. We felt very looked after in this part of the trip.
The upstairs flat is perfect for a person travelling on their own: it is compact but wonderfully furnished, plenty enough for one but doesn't feel cramped or small. Kitchen is well equipped, bedroom is lovely. The flat is lovely and light and does not feel claustrophobic. It is located right in the centre of Southwold, above a shop but there's no disturbances from this, and with the flat at the back of the building, there's no street noise either.
Nice house felt very peaceful and spacious for just the two of us.
Shower broke while we were there and was replaced/fixed the same day which was great.
Nice 20ish mins walk into Southwold kept us away from the maddening crowd!
Garden was lovely (although it rained nearly every day we were there unfortunately).
Everything that was needed was there with a few exceptions (see below)
A fantastic cottage in the heart of Southwold with private parking. The owners had thought of everything to make it a home from home. It was spotlessly clean with gorgeous welcome gifts for us and our dog. Ideally situated for the beach and town and communication from the owner was amazing, with lots of information about cafes, dog friendly places to eat and places of interest.
Good Breakfast choice served well. The room was spacious and clean with all the amenities. Dinner used local products and was well served. The hotel had character and was quietly relaxing. The staff were all excellent. It had parking facilities off road and was ideally situated in the centre of town. The prices were reasonable and the wine and drinks menu suited all tastes.
Really lovely hotel in the heat of Southwold town centre.
Crisps and two beers in the room was a nice touch.
Dinner was great.
Won't be important to many people but the music in the dining room was excellent. Can't remember hearing Beach Fossils anywhere I've stayed before. Kudos for the sounds.
Everything….the cleanliness, location, food were great! Also nice and quiet. However, I didn’t realize we were getting the small room, my reservation led me to believe we had the garden room. But as I mentioned, the more important aspects of the room/hotel were great!
Rooms are comfortable and easy to live in. Lots of nice luxury touches..robes, slippers, bath and shower stuff, gin, biscuits, good coffee and machine. Love different cosy spaces in the hotel and the outside space, ideal for sharing a drink.
Very friendly staff. Rooms were very clean with great facilities.
The breakfast was amazing and such a great selection.
We had an evening meal which was one of the best we've had.
Walking distance to Southwold.
We would definitely stay again.
A unique experience.
Huge (and I mean really big) room with comfy beds and luxurious bedding.
Very nice helpful staff.
Fabulous breakfast.
Interesting building - rustic luxury.
Good spot for exploring Suffolk coast by car or bike.
Location is fantastic. Lots more personality than larger hotels. Staff fantastic - special mention to Tom and Shannon - and food delicious! We were in Southwold Friday night to Sunday morning and had all our meals at the Sail Loft
Secure car parking, excellent choice and quality of food in main restaurant, comfortable king-size bed and spacious bedroom, lovely staff, immediate access to Southwold high street.
Excellent location in the centre of Southwold
There are enough facilities and equipment to cook a meal if you wish but establishments nearby to eat somewhere different everyday.
Everything had been thought of for a wonderful stay at this dog friendly cottage. Warm and comfortable with a great shower and secure garden. Really enjoyed our stay.
Comfortable Room with friendly staff and excellent breakfast menu. The property is in an excellent location for exploring Southwold and the surrounding area.
