The Messene area is not great for hotels, and Kleopatra is definitely one of the better places that you can stay. Just be aware that it is on the main road that has lots of traffic -- I did not realize this -- and request at your booking time a room facing the back of the hotel so you don't hear the trucks go by. Even though I hadn't requested a back-facing room, they thankfully gave us one. The view was not great (looking out onto rather junky backyards) but I so appreciated not being on the street. The manager of the hotel is tirelessly helpful and kind. The facility itself is clean, modern (elevator!), well-maintained. The room was fairly large by Greek standards and very comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding (he made us fried eggs to order).

Sunrise Village Hotel is a hidden gem in Petalidi. The private beach and lush gardens provide a tranquil environment. The room was comfortable with modern amenities, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The hotel's proximity to historical sites and Kalamata made our stay even better. A great find!
