Initially, this hotel seemed a little remote but we came to appreciate being away from the crowded Kawaguchiko. The view of Fuji from the room was a real bonus. Staff were very helpful; breakfast very good. Very grateful to the hotel for minding our luggage on the day of departure.

For Fujiyoshida you can plan to stay 2 nights, it will be enough to enjoy different spots to see Mount Fuji and if you have plans to go to Fuji Q HIGHLAND you can also do it. Keep in mind that transportation in this town is not until very late so it can be very useful to rent a bicycle, motorcycle or car for better transportation.

When sunny, the town is very full of tourists. The train/bus station is very small for the amazing volume of vehicles and people that go through. So be prepared for crowded chaos at the station. Get the sightseeing bus pamphlet - this is a local town bus, the pamphlet shows you the attractions- it was handy. Popular attraction ropeway- great - but not remotely accessible- many many stairs and steep slopes. Good restaurant to the right of the exit of the ropeway.

We stayed for 3 nights - perfect for walking to sights like the pagoda, and a full day at Fuji Q. It meant we could choose our day according to the weather when most rides were open. There was a good variety of restaurants in the area, we had an especially good meal in ‘Aio’. Even in low cloud and rain it was interesting to wander round and fall into cafes and we had the pleasure of suddenly seeing the majesty of Mt Fuji when the clouds cleared. Fujiyoshida was a relaxing change to the tourist bustle of Kyoto and Nara which we’d just been to.

I stayed near the Shimoyoshida Station at Asumi Onsen.
I stayed near the Shimoyoshida Station at Asumi Onsen. I am very glad that I did not stay in Kawaguchiko, which is swamped by huge numbers of tourists from all over the world, causing long lines in every store anywhere near the train station. I got Mt. Fuji views from everywhere but my stay was relaxed and amongst the local Japanese, except at the Chureito Pagoda. Mountains and hiking paths were nearby. On my last day, I went to Kawaguchiko Station to pick up a bus back to Tokyo. One look at the long lines and tourists clogging the streets made me certain that I made the right choice to stay away from all that.

Fujiyoshida is a tourist area.
Fujiyoshida is a tourist area. Within half an hour drive around are ropeways, scenic areas, hikes temples and various other activities like quad bike riding, zip line, safari, rides, outlet shopping, etc. You need to be there to know what is there. For example, Mishima Sky Bridge is not just a scenic area but filled with lots of fun activities. A good time to go is to be able to catch the sunset on the bridge against Mount Fuji. Magical.

Fujiyoshida has some great viewing points for Fuji San, the town itself is quiet but has some lovely places to eat. Even though it is so close to the biggest tourist attraction in Japan it doesn’t feel busy with tourists.
The host Yumiko is the friendliest person we have met here in Japan. She speaks amazing English and we talked about our lives over dinner. The house is a beautiful modern Japanese house just built a few years ago. It is very close to the main Fuji station which can take you to all the nearby attractions. The view of My. Fuji from our room was incredible and we were lucky to have clear skies. Waking up at sunrise to see the mountain was breathtaking. She made us a delicious breakfast and made sure we knew how to get to our next destination.
We requested a flat iron with a stand and they immediately delivered it right away on our doorstep. We requested an hour late check-out if possible since we are also late check-in, we're glad they allowed it. The front desk staff assist us kindly on directions on nearby restaurants and convenience stores. Even gave us maps and timetable for the bus stops. We appreciate it. We liked Mt. Fuji view as well from the hotel restaurant while having breakfast. :)
The host was super kind, she is a very nice person that can pick you up and drop you at the train station. It is a traditional Japanese house that is cozy, warm (I went during winter) and very important for me, it was so clean. Also, our room was quiet big and comfy and, the bathroom was very spacious with spare toilets (one for girls and one mixed). You a view of the Mount Fuji from the balcony, which is a plus!
Amazing view of mt fuji from the living room. Very very clean. Very convenient location. Sweet and kind host. Get to sleep on Japanese style futon. And great restaurants close by as well as 7-11 and the main shrine/temple which begins the official trail up mt fuji.
That's a plain photo out the window from the living room. Not a painting or a filtered photo. Amazing. Lol.
Our hotel had a direct view of Mount Fuji. Whenever we lounged in the outdoor onsen, we could enjoy a fantastic view. The room was comfortable and quite spacious, with full amenities provided such as complementary beverages, pajamas, etc. We also enjoyed walking through the grounds and exploring different events hosted such as taiko drumming, tea ceremony, etc.
Very nice hotel we stayed at a renovated room on a higher level. Very cool to look over the park. There is free parking available. Entrance to the park is free for hotel guests but you have to pay per ride or buy a day pass for 6000 yen. Onsen was also very nice. Very nice view from the breakfast hall but if it’s raining you will not see mt Fuji.
The hotel is in a wonderful location and you can see Mount Fuji so clearly from the roof, it really was stunning. It is near the station and is also near many convenience stores and supermarkets. There is a cafe/bar you can eat in. The beds were comfy and the room was very basic but very nice. It's really great value for the location and room.
The breakfast was delicious, lots of options. Do not miss dinner at the hotel - it's a must! The onsen with the Fuji view were amazing. We loved walking around the Japanese garden. But, the views, the room, the onsen & the dinner were flawless! We came in the dead of winter and there's nothing cosier sitting in the onsen looking at Mt. Fuji.
We had a great time at Asumi Onsen. The hosts were very hospitable. They picked us up and dropped us to Shimoyoshida station. The breakfast was amazing and even catered to our vegan requirement. They even let us borrow their bicycle. It’s a must visit place if you want to experience the traditional Japanese hotel, with onsen.
Despite its old-fashioned charm, this hotel is a perfect choice for travelers seeking comfort and proximity to Mount Fuji. The rooms are surprisingly spacious, and the beds offer a comfortable night's sleep. The priceless view of Mount Fuji, right in front of the hotel, adds a unique and memorable touch to the stay.
Very lovely grandma, amazing location and the room was basically on the same level as a ryokan minus the service. The heated futon was so good in the winter, room was not very warm so that was a good thing.
Literally a 2 min walk from fujisan station and extremely easy to get around the area
The beautiful view of Mt. Fuji by the bedroom window was fantastic. The bed was very comfortable, room was very spacious and cleanliness was excellent. The staff were very friendly, supportive, considerate and most of all speaks English in which you seldom see in Japan.
The owners were lovely and very helpful, they’ve picked up us on the train station and also brought us back on the day of check out. The bedroom was Japanese style and very spacious and clean. They also rent bikes that is very helpful to get around and see the city.
The hostel has a stylish and minimalist design, very mindful of details. We loved that they provide free coffee, tea, and snacks in the common spaces. The location is also perfect, on the main street of Fujiyoshida and very close to the popular Mt Fuji photo spot.
Great location, free parking, staff were super helpful and did their utmost to help my friend who needed a doctor. The private Onsen was fun and great after a long day. We had dinner at the hotel which was great and affordable.
The front desk staff was excellent especially Ms Midori. Despite our lack of knowledge in speaking / understanding Japanese, the staff showed patience and understanding.
I loved the Onsen facilities.
We arrived late at night. The next morning at 7am, the glorious Mt Fuji was smiling at the window. Really made my day. That's why you must stay at Hotel Mystays Fuji Onsen Resort!!! Bucket list tick!!
The hotel is 3 minutes' walk from the central station. A small and quiet hotel. The breakfast is very tasty. We got a room with 2 very comfortable beds and the room is very spacious.
Spacious and clean room with very large bed, and Netflix which is a nice addition. The hotel has access to a roof terrace where (on a clear day) you can see mont. Fuji.
