Very handy location as we were staying in the area for Peppa Pig World. Was only a 15 minute drive. Breakfast was really nice and ensured we were filled up for the morning. Options for hot or cold breakfast. Bed and pillows super comfortable. Parking was easy and only £5 per night. Great kids room next to the restaurant.

Departure point for Isle of Wight ferries and grand cruise liners including the Queen Mary 2, Southampton is understandably centred around its port. But even if you’re passing through, the city has more than enough to make you want to stay awhile. The Hythe Ferry from the port passes Netley, site of a ruined abbey, and ends at Hythe Pier, home to the world’s oldest pier train.
There is much older history in the city centre where the 15th-century city walls are amongst the most complete in England. Also remaining is the medieval Bargate gatehouse.
Just behind is the Bargate Shopping Centre, while high street stores in the city centre and West Quay are other Southampton shopping choices. As for entertainment, the city is well served by theatres, and Oxford Street has the best bars and restaurants. All are easily reached from the apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Southampton available on Booking.com.
There is also a surprising amount of green space in the city and its central parks are Grade II-listed. Slightly further out is Southampton Common, whose Urban Wildlife Centre is worth a visit.
If you’re flying out of Southampton Airport, don’t leave without having visited the Maritime Museum or Archaeology Museum, both detailing the history of this long-established city.
What can I say about Southampton that is fair and isn't...
What can I say about Southampton that is fair and isn't something someone from nearby Portsmouth would say? I think it's almost a 'ghost town' but one where the ghosts are probably moving out. It has no character, no style, idiotic parking, traffic control systems, very little of note apart from some very nice Tudor buildings (so it might not have had a lick of paint in a few hundred years) and a few overpriced, glossy buildings that are 'modern' (see no character, etc).
It's on the South Coast so the weather can be good but it doesn't really have a beach. The people range from the ok to rather a lot of snooty, nose in the air types. I didn't like a lot of them, some were great.
Its main trade is the port: goods coming in and people going out. I'm a person, so I'm out.

This was my second stay in Southampton and I have enjoyed it both times. There is plenty to see with the museums and galleries. The food options are very good with lots of restaurants and bars to choose from. I really liked all the parks and open spaces. Taxis are easy to get and you can also pre book which is what we did to get back and forth to the cruise terminal. We traveled in and out of Southampton airport and it is a great airport as it is small and friendly and probably nicest airport experience I have ever had.

The Pub across the road does not serve food.
The Pub across the road does not serve food. There are several places to eat roughly 1 mile away, a 15 minute walk. The Mayflower Village Pub served excellent meals and drinks. Ristorante Italiano also served very good Italian food. There is a Subway close by that is open for breakfast. We Ubered from the bus station and to the cruise terminal.

Very close to cruise terminals.
Very close to cruise terminals. Large shops like Matalan ( never seen one so large with everything you'd need). Mamas & papas. Close to many eateries like TGI Fridays/5 guys/las iguanas/ Brazilian & mexican.
This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel prior to cruising the next day. Location is perfect for town centre and cruise terminals. Our room had a little balcony which suited our needs and we had a great view of our ship early the next morning. The room was spotless and spacious. The breakfast choice was varied and plentiful. All the staff are so friendly and pleasant. Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is in a very good position for visiting the theatre in Southampton, whilst being in a very quiet and secluded place. The room was a good size, with a bath rather than just a shower. The breakfast offering, again went above and beyond, with an exceptional choice, and very good quality. The gentleman overseeing the breakfast room was delightful. At the price, this hotel would be very hard to beat.
Great communication with Joe, and his home is very comfortable and inviting. We were welcomed in and given a lot of information about Southampton. The view from the balcony is very nice. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is fully stocked with all the product we needed. The location is walking distance to many of the town’s interesting sights and shopping areas.
Thought the location of the hotel was very convenient near to the port and near to the old historical town area of Southampton. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. We had breakfast in the hotel which wasn't included in the price, which I thought was unfair. The quality of the food though was very good.
The reception staff were very friendly.
The room was very clean and well put together, and we appreciated the complementary drinks. The location of the hotel, while an approximately 25 minute walk from the train station, was close to the best parts of Southampton. Breakfast was top notch. We stayed in around 8 hotels in this England trip, and this one had one of the best menus for breakfast.
Very clean environment cleaner than some hotels.
Mostly quiet. Was nice to have access to a kitchen and a fridge. I was able to cook a breakfast on the last morning and I used kitchen utensils which were provided. The shops were not a long walk and they were near the station and a bus stop leading into town centre of Southampton.
Location close to the Cruise Terminal was great. Southampton is a major cruise port in Southern England. The bed was comfortable. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was just okay. It's a bar/cafe combo without much variety.
Staff handled an issue with the room well (and seemed embarrassed as well).
Absolutely love staying here. Always have a great night sleep as the beds are so comfortable. The room is so clean and offers everything you could need during your stay!! Staff are so friendly and very helpful. Easy walk into town and ubers are cheap from the hotel! Love the decor!!
This is a great little property close to the downtown area and also very close to the cruise terminal (we actually walked there!). This is a perfect place to stay for a night before a cruise or even just to visit Southampton for the day.
Great hotel. I have stayed at Moxy, Bristol previously. The Moxy in Southampton was just as I expected. Great vibe, clean rooms and really friendly and helpful staff. Myself and Wilma (dachshund) were made to feel very welcome.
Good location for city centre and cruise terminal.
Professional attitude of staff good breakfast good parking facilities retail park within easy walking distance of the hotel and train station also within walking distance to
Breakfast was very good and the bar/lounge areas were comfortable. The hotel was in a good location for going to Southampton's cruise terminals. Staff were friendly.
Hotel is well placed us busy city centre with parking next door in multi storey car park, £4.50 for24-hours. Very close to bars, restaurants and large shopping mall.
Location is a short walk from Westquay or Southampton high street, Room also has a smart tv which is a bonus. All round good place to go for a short break.
