Portland is a walkable city.
Portland is a walkable city. Too many wonderful restaurants for one trip!
My favorites from this trip: Fore Street Restaurant, Honey Paw, and Jing Yan. My husband loved Bar Futo and the bar at Via Vecchia.

We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine.
We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine. We usually stop at the Kittery Trading Post along our drive. In Portland we like to take in historical homes and sites like the Victorian Mansion or the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow home. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in the waterfront area. One of our favorites is the Ri' Ra' where I typically enjoy a Guinness with the fish and chips.

My work in Portland shows me a diverse striving community that is trying to care for its citizens. That diversity is revealed through exploring the shops underneath and around the "Hopeful" sculpture/sign on Forest Ave.

Best seafood ever.
Best seafood ever. Very nice restaurants and bars and excellent, friendly service in all places. Nice little interior or similar shops. Some more or less interesting galleries, interesting Arts Museum. But two full days are enough for visiting downtown Portland.
Lovely hiking trails at about 30 minutes from the town.
This was one of the cleanest and well kept hotels we ever stayed at. It looked rather new.
Portland Sea Dogs are about a 5 minute walk. Minor league baseball is very inexpensive compared to MLB and just as fun.
The Old Port was a bit of a walk, about 45 minutes. We took Congress St. thru downtown. It was a nice easy walk both mornings and evenings. Parking downtown is expensive. If you don’t mind a nice walk it’s worth it. Plus you get to walk thru downtown.
The front entrance of the hotel was a bit difficult to find. No breakfast or a complimentary snack/drink. The room and walkway had a mold smell. The bedding was a bit dirty. The vending machine was out of order and it appeared that there was only one vending machine. The location was a bit further out of downtown Portland for the price. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was not good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Historic downtown hotel. Very nice place to stay. Nothing about the room I didn't like. Very good breakfast although you have to take it back to your room as there is almost no seating. Adequate parking on site. Some good restaurants within walking distance, but you need a car or take the bus to get to the port area. We took the bus with no problem. People of Portland are very friendly.
Our room was spacious, extremely clean and comfortable, with views on two sides. The bed and linens were very comfy and inviting. The bathroom was spotless and larger than my first apartment😉 Staff were professional, helpful and friendly. We love walking around Portland, and the Westin is close to nearly everything, yet away from the hectic Old Port area.
A standard large modern functional hotel on the edge of Portland in easy reach of the highway but a long way from the city downtown. The rooms were large, airy and clean with a big comfy bed. Room facilities were what you would expect in this type of hotel. Breakfast was pretty good and varied with lots of space to sit. Not bad value for money.
The property was clean, modern, comfortable, and close to everything I needed. I went to Portland to see a concert and the hotel was a 4 minute walk from the venue. It was a great option having a lounge in the hotel to grab food and drinks. The pool and sauna were fantastic. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Room had a trendy vibe and was comfortable, clean, and spacious. It had a nice view of downtown and hotel is in a great location as far as being near to shopping and restaurants as well as close to waterfront and lighthouse areas. Housekeeping was very good and it was overall a very pleasant place to stay.
We expected the hotel to be out of the way but it is actually very close to everything we wanted: easy highway access; walking distance to stores and restaurants; about 20 minutes walk to downtown Portland. Very pet friendly; our dog felt very comfortable in the hotel.
Little boutique hotel located in the East End of Portland. Walkable to plenty of good restaurants and breweries. Room was comfortable with cute decor and artwork. There’s no staff on site but they’re very communicative by texts/calls.
Perfectly located in the old port section of Portland. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. Hotel and staff were lovely. The valet service was also greatly appreciated and easily accessible. Would recommend!
This is an ideal location to walk or bike around all of downtown Portland. It was safe for me to walk at night as a woman, alone, down Market, Commercial streets, etc. I also LOVED the free shuttle service from 3:00 -11:00.
This is my favorite hostel I have ever used. Cheery, obliging staff, quirky decor, convenient and immaculate bathrooms, sensible method for secure late-night entry; short walk from downtown and from the waterfront.
Lovely Inn with caring staff and comfortable rooms. Beds had good bedding and pillows, rooms were clean and plenty of water, tea, coffee and brownies in the communal area. Downtown 25-30 minute walk.
Excellent location - walkable to restaurants and bars in downtown Portland. Comfortable room; hotel was updated; hotel bar had spectacular drinks; excellent breakfast that was included.
