We were warmly welcomed and the place is loved by adults as well as children. Asanka's wife Sadamali prepared our dinner and it was the best meal we had in Sri Lanka. The hotel arranged the safari. The jeep driver who provides excellent service is the best guide. The sound of the river is like a bavana throughout the night. Love it.

The Makulu camp is definetely a hidden gem! We had an extraordinary stay at their place - the staff was great, offerinh so many things to do snd helped us organizing everything regarding transport, the safari etc. The super romantic bonfire dinner in the middle of the djungle at night was a highlight we are lucky to have experienced.

We stayed in the double room with a pool view, a beautiful room. When I saw pictures online of the outdoor bathroom I saw sold! The restaurant onsite has great food and a very full buffet breakfast. The location is good also, close enough to Udawalawe junction (10 min walk). We did a full day safari tour with Gayal and it has been the highlight of this trip so far. He is a very knowledgeable guide and was very patient with all of my picture taking. Ask for him when you book your tour, you won't be disappointed!
